Share links
Turn a template into a public link or QR code. Each person who opens it enters their details and signs their own copy.
Share links suit forms that many people sign on their own devices, such as waivers, intake forms and consent forms. Every submission creates a new envelope from the template.
Before you start
A share link needs a template with exactly one role, and that role must be a Signer. The template can't have fields that you fill in before sending, because nobody prepares the envelope. Assign those fields to the signer's role instead.
If the template isn't ready, its page shows what to change and an Edit recipients link.
Create a share link
- Open the template.
- Under Other ways to collect, click Set up next to Share link. You can also choose Share link from the ⋯ menu.
- Click Create link.
The dialog shows the link and a QR code. Click Copy link or Download QR to share them by email, text message or print.
You can add an optional Welcome message, shown on the page before signers enter their details. Click Save changes after editing it.
What signers see
The signer opens the link, enters their Full name and Email, and clicks Continue to sign. They go straight to the signing page. No invitation email is sent, because they're already there.
When they finish, they can download their copy from the done screen for the next 15 minutes. After that the page no longer shows it. If they gave an email address, they also get the completed copy by email, like any other signer. You get the usual completion notice, which you can turn off under Settings → Notifications. The envelope is complete and filed like any other envelope. It's named after the template and appears in your Envelopes list.
If the signer's role uses SMS verification, the form also asks for a mobile phone number. SMS verification is available on the Platform plan.
Prefill the form
Add query parameters to the link to fill in the signer's details:
| Parameter | What it does |
|---|---|

signerEmail |

lockName=true |
Stops the signer changing the name |
lockEmail=true |

externalId |
Stores your own reference on the envelope |

With the link on, click Embed on a website on the template's page to get an Embed URL and an iframe snippet.
The embedded form only loads on sites you allow. Add your site's origin in Settings → Embedding. See Embedded signing for embedding envelopes from your own app.
Counter QR code
With the link on, click Counter QR on the template's page to print a QR code for a front desk. Visitors scan it to sign on their own phone, for example while a kiosk serves the next person. See Kiosk mode.
Disable a link
Open the share link dialog and click Disable link. The link and any printed QR codes stop working immediately. If you create a link again later, it has a new URL.
Archiving the template also stops the link until you restore the template.
Integrations can turn the link on with POST /api/v1/templates/{template}/share_link, which returns its URL, and off with DELETE on the same path. Turning it on again returns the same URL.
Usage
Each submission counts as an envelope toward your plan's allowance. If the workspace can't send more envelopes, signers see a message asking them to contact the sender. See Plans and billing.
